A PECB ISO 42001 Lead Implementer is a professional certified by PECB as competent to design, implement, and manage an Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS) conforming to ISO/IEC 42001. The credential covers building the AIMS from scratch: scoping the system, running AI risk assessments, drafting the required policies and Statement of Applicability, rolling out Annex A controls, and preparing the organization for external certification audit. It's earned through a PECB training course followed by a proctored exam — 3 hours, 80 multiple-choice questions, open book — and is aimed at consultants, compliance leads, AI governance officers, and project managers who will be the ones actually building the management system, as distinct from the Lead Auditor credential, which certifies someone to independently assess an AIMS rather than build one. Many practitioners hold both.
