There's no mandatory prerequisite to attend ISO 31000 Lead Risk Manager training or to sit its exam — PECB recommends but doesn't require a fundamental understanding of ISO 31000 and risk management concepts beforehand. The experience requirements only apply afterward, to determine which credential you can apply for once you've passed: the Lead Risk Manager credential itself requires at least 5 years of professional experience, including 2 years and 300 hours specifically in risk management, plus signing the PECB Code of Ethics. Candidates without that experience can still take the same exam and apply for the entry-level Provisional Risk Manager credential instead, upgrading later once they meet the threshold.
